The construction of bridge was opened in 1883. The bridge connects Manhattan and Brooklyn.
 

      

 


The bridge is very special: it is constructed with steel and granite, steel cables are anchored to the granite that are situated  at the ends of the bridge.

The bridge has 6 lanes: 3 to Manhattan and 3 to Brooklyn, than there is a lane for pedestrians and bicycle.

 

 

 

 

 

the bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world from its opening until 1903, and the first steel-wire suspension bridge.

 

Since its opening, it has become an icon of New York, and was designated a National historic landmark in 1964  and a National historic civil engineering landmark in 1972.
