Parque de Serralves

Parque de Serralves was planned in the period of modernity. Situated in a populated urban area it is a creation of great global significance.

The park surrounds a great art center that includes: Casa Serralves, and Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea.

Serralves House, obtains by the State in 198. It was used as a center for contemporary art with exhibitions and retrospectives of world famous artists.

Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporanea built  by the greatest living Portuguese architect, Alvaro Siza Vieira.

The gardens, designed by João Gomes da Silva have had about 18 acres of land where alternate lawns, hedges, ponds and fountains.

The park has contributed to the importance of its role in the promotion of the cultural and environmental quality of the city of Porto.
