ROCKEFELLER CENTER

The Rockefeller Center is a group of 19 commercial buildings of New York, in Manhattan, overlooking the Fifth Avenue not far from the Central Park. This center was built from the Rockefeller’s banking family, it is one of the biggest private complex in the world. It was declared  National Historic Landmark in 1987.

Radio City Music Hall was completed in December,1932. It was promoted as the largest and most opulent theatre in the world at the time. The Music Hall was designed by three architectural firms; Edward Durell Stone to design the exterior, an exponent of the European Modernist style and innovator of a new American design aesthetic.

In the center of the Rockefeller Center there is the GE Building with its 70 floor formally known as RCA Building. The building was renamed in the 1980s. Unlike most other Art Deco towers built during the 1930s, the GE Building was built with a flat roof (Top of the Rock)

Rockefeller Center represents a turning point of architectural sculpture. A large number of other artists contributed work at the Center. When a person think about the Rockefeller center immediately think to the ice park situated in the center of this center.
