Rose Center for Earth and Space (New York)
The Rose Center for Earth and Space is a notable part of American Museum of Natural History in New York City. The Rose Center is designed byJames Stewart Polshek and Todd H. Schliemann, it's an extensive reworking of the old Hayden Planetarium. An entirely new building opened to the public on February 19, 2000, featuring a seven-story-tall glass cube.
The tophalf of the Sphere houses the Space Theaterthat incorporates high-resolution fulldome video to create "space shows", based in scientific visualization.The Big Bang Theater occupies the lower half of the Hayden Sphere, it use anormous screen, a four minutes program describes the birth of universe, with a voiceover. The Big Bang Theater serves as an introduction to the Heilburn Cosmic Pathway, a sphiral which wraps around the sphere,connecting the second and first floorsof the Rose Center.
Other exhibits can be found outside the sphere; the Gottesman Hall of the Planet Earth has displays that illustrates the Eart's geological history and weather patterns. The Cullman Hall of the Universe focuses on topics ranging from planets to stars, life on others worlds to current cosmology.
