Sachets Harbor is village in Jefferson Country, in Northern New York US, and it is about 35 miles from Orwego.

It is a perfect place to visit and to spend hours together, and there are many season to visit Sachets Harbor.

Fist of all, because there are many activities for whole family and lover of sport as: wind surfing, camping, go picnicking, fishing, golfing, sailing, kayaking, bicycling, swimming at near beaches, try sailing, white water Rafting, or also year-round trophy fishing.

  You can also to visit Harbor visitor’s Center where there are museums and a lot of interactive exhibitions  about many different topic such as military, maritime, and nature history related to the war of 1872 and lots more.

Among things to see there are Battlefield State Historic Site and military cemetery;  Medinson Barracks, military base, that attract many tourist, in fact, many buildings have recently been restored, or also, Samuel F.Hooker House Arts Central, a historic structure, that will soon be home of the Arts Association of Northern New York.

But also... you can simply walk along the picturesque streets of community, that are full of antique shops, boutiques and restaurants.

In fact, Suckets Harbor is became a dining destination for many tourists from throughout the US and Canada.

“Tisk Pan Gallerry” is the oldest and famed restaurant on main street, that have beautifaul garden with many place to sit.

Also the Boathouse and the Brew Pub are very popular restaurant and bar, in fact, they during the night attract many people  with their live music and  outdoor setting.

Besides, the community also includes a school, libraries, business development police and emergency service, churches, food, beverage, garden, hardware and bait stores, a post office, bank, ATMS, bakeries and gas station.

During the summer months we can assist/enjoy to many weekly Sunday concerts an waterfront, festival with Parade and Fireworks, lacrosse tournaments , Auto snows, Memorial Day on 4th of July, and also the annual war of 1812 is very beautiful, where muskets and cannons surround.

 

 

 

But also during the autumnal season this place is very wonderful, because it is covered completely with tons of snow, giving spectacular collection of winter scenes.

Even if, during this season a lot of shops were closed, there are many activities such as the Cross Country, Reeking, and of course the Historic Christmas tree Lighting Ceremony.

 

 

 

Sechets Harbor has also an important and unique history...

 

... It had an strategic role as a defender of Americi’s northem fronter.

With war of 1812, this place became the most important shipbuilding center of the United States.

During this war, in fact, many soldiers, carpenters, sailors were stationed here to build and to defend the fleet, for the invasion and conquest of Canada.

Since 1866 the battlefield side has been recognized as a special plot of land to honor the military who have fought during war.

So this land was called in 1678 << Old Battle ground >>, and was used for many important events.

For these reason, today, this it is so became on important patrimony proudly protected by the New York State.
