The Alhambra
The Alhambra is the most important monument in Islamic Spain, erect to Granada. Tha name of the city is due to the color of the original bricks, it is not a single building but a complex of buildings, turned to administrative offices and residences, built by the last Moslem principales between the XII and the XIV centurury. The city posts to east of the hill of Granada, it is fenced from strong strenghthened mure. The principal nucleus of the building of the sultans articulates around two coutyards parvises, refreshed by complicated hydraulic systems and by graven fountains: the Courtyard of the Lions. In the XVII century Charles V it made to demolish part of the ancient part to build a building from the Renaissance forms. Elegant epigraphs reproduce on the walls passages of the Koran and praises in honor of the prince of the building and geometric mosaics from the bright colors they embellish every architectural detail.
