Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco

One of the most famous and important bridge in the world, the Golden Gate Bridge, is a point of linking between San Francisco and the south costs of Marin County.
The bridge is long 2.71Km, while the distance above sea level is of 67m.
The Golden Gate Bridge, that was finished after more than four years of constructions, was born thanks to the idea of an important engineer, James Wilkins.
In fact, the latter believed that the possible construction of the bridge made easier and safer the crossing of the strait.
Only with the work of Strauss, the plan of bridge took life. In fact, in honour of the important engineer, a statue has been placed near the bridge, to underline his considerable engagement.
The importance and the utility of the bridge is considerable, in particular for the density of the traffic that move quickly between San Francisco and the coasts of Pacific Ocean.
The colour of the bridge is orange. The choice was made by the architect Irving Morrow because it recalled the colours of the landscape and because it made possible the view of the bridge also with the fog. This colour is the same still today.

The strait is well known today for its depth and powerful tidal currents from the Pacific Ocean.

Golden Gate Bridge is suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate for connects the city of San Francisco to Marin Country. It was the longest bridge in the world. Constructio began on Jenuary 5,1933 and it was finished by April 1937. The bridge-opening celebration began on May 27 and lasted for one week.

The Bridge is long 2,71 km and the distance from to towers is 1.282 m.

When it was completed in 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge was the largest suspension bridge in the world, and over time has become an internationally recognized symbol of the city San Francisco.

The idea of a bridge that connects San Francisco and Marin Country was proposed by the engineer James Wilkins in an article in wich he argued the utility to make safer and faster to cross the straits, wich had been made with the ferry. The bridge gained its name in 1917 when he was appointed as the engineer of the urban city San Francisco.
